For many people, visiting Persepolis, which is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list, is the main reason to travel to Shiraz as monumental ruins located in the northeast of Shiraz are one of the greatest archaeological sites in the world.

Many tourists also visit Hafezieh and Saadieh, the tombs of the prominent Persian poets Hafez and Saadi, respectively.

The Vakil Historical Bath, an ancient public bath, and nearby Vakil Mosque and Vakil Bazaar - one of the oldest and most famous traditional markets in Iran - are also among the must-see places of Shiraz, along with the Nasir al-Mulk Mosque, aka the Pink Mosque, that dates back to the Qajar dynasty in the 19th century.

Shiraz is also known for its hospitable people whose warm and likable behavior encourages tourists to visit the city many times.
